An Inconvenient Truth

The An Inconvenient Truth is documentary about the scariest fact mankind has ever had to face… GLOBAL WARMING. You may view the docu’s trailer. You’ll see how urgent this call is.

There is a massive campaign going around the globe. Just to quote James Jacobson’s word:

Reversing global warming is not a political issue. It’s a practical and realistic proposal. It’s our civic responsibility. If we, our children, and our children’s children want to continue living on Earth, it’s an imperative. And we have to start today.

Read more about it. Let’s all work together! ^_^

Charlotte’s Web

Finally, I had the chance to watch my type of movie for the Nth time. Right after working hours, my friends and I made our way to the movie house and watch:

Charlotte's Web

Click HERE to view the trailer!

This is a motion picture from the famous Childrens’s book (As Stuart Little) from the book Charlotte’s Web by E.B White. As quoted from reelviews.net, here’s how the movie goes:

On the night of his birth, runt of the litter Wilbur (voice of Dominic Scott Kay) is saved from the ax by Fern (Dakota Fanning), who promises to keep the newly born pig safe. When Wilbur becomes too large to keep as a pet, she sells him to her uncle, who owns a barn across the street. He’s close enough that she can visit him every day, but Fern isn’t aware that Wilbur’s ultimate destination is the smokehouse so he can be ready to be served for dinner on Christmas Day. In the barn, Wilbur becomes acquainted with the other residents: Templeton the rat (voice of Steve Buscemi), Samuel the sheep (voice of John Cleese), Ike the horse (Robert Redford), and Gussy and Golly the geese (voices of Oprah Winfrey and Cedric the Entertainer). While these animals are stand-offish, there is one creature in the barn who makes friends with the lonely pig: Charlotte the spider (voice of Julia Roberts). Her efforts in particular will be vital in keeping Wilbur alive long enough to see the winter snows. Her idea: convince the farmers that their new pig is too valuable to be used as pork.

You have to watch it for yourself and see how the characters were amazingly portrayed. I just love Julia Robert’s soft and soothing tone of voice.

A Film Review by James Berardinelli

Happy Birthday Oprah!

Yep, you heard it right. Today is the Nth birthday of the talk show host Oprah Winfrey.

Oprah has been an icon of a woman of strength and is very influencial in many ways. She’s a book publicist, an Academy Award-nominated actress and a magazine publisher. I believe she’s a friend too. If only we’re friends, I could probably share more about that.

Here’s a compilation of some of her quotable quotes:

• “I was taught to read at an early age. By the time I was three, I was reciting speeches in the church. They’d put me up on the program, and say, ‘Little Mistress Winfrey will render a recitation,’ and I would do ‘Jesus rose on Easter day, Hallelujah, Hallelujah, all the angels did proclaim.’”
• “It doesn’t matter who you are, where you come from. The ability to triumph begins with you - always.”
• “I really became frustrated with the fact that all I did was write check after check to this or that charity without really feeling like it was a part of me.”
• Be thankful for what you have; you’ll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don’t have, you will never, ever have enough.
• Doing the best at this moment puts you in the best place for the next moment.
• I always knew I was destined for greatness.
• I am a woman in process. I’m just trying like everybody else. I try to take every conflict, every experience, and learn from it. Life is never dull.
• I believe that every single event in life happens in an opportunity to choose love over fear.
• I don’t believe in failure. It is not failure if you enjoyed the process.
• I don’t think of myself as a poor deprived ghetto girl who made good. I think of myself as somebody who from an early age knew I was responsible for myself, and I had to make good.
• I don’t think you ever stop giving. I really don’t. I think it’s an on-going process. And it’s not just about being able to write a check. It’s being able to touch somebody’s life.
• I feel that luck is preparation meeting opportunity.
• I still have my feet on the ground, I just wear better shoes.
• Lots of people want to ride with you in the limo, but what you want is someone who will take the bus with you when the limo breaks down.
• You know you are on the road to success if you would do your job, and not be paid for it.

Do you wish to know the birthdays of other famous personalities around the Globe? Say, Madonna, Bill Gates, Borris Yeltzin, George Lindemann and even Nicole Kidman…? I do too.. I wonder if the list found in www-tech.mit.edu has some info on them…

Blogging at the Prime of their Lives

For the 3rd time, I re-posted my blog entry about Donald Crowdis whom I thought was the Web’s Oldest Blogger. The other day, when I had the chance to check the comments awaiting moderation on crispytalks, I found Eric Shackle’s comment and he shared an amazing info on my page.

Donald Crowdis, Canada’s Oldest Blogger was in fact 3 months younger than America’s Ray White, who has written more a thousand blog posts. Click this to read about it. Allan Loof who (i think) will be turning 95 this year outstands the over 55 Billion bloggers worldwide as the World’s Oldest blogger.

Hats off for Eric Shackle who himself is a record holder for being the World’s oldest citizen reporter. Go check his website and find out more about interesting facts and figures that you might not heard about before.. ;)
