Back in CDO now

Our visit to Davao was great.  Ea spent quite a good while with Lolo and Lola.  Every morning, Lolo (my dad) takes the little one to his garden to see butterflies and flowers.  And Lola (my mommy) lets her play “stand and walk” on the wooden bench by the window.  I guess Ea was looking for those morning rituals when we returned home after 3 weeks.  She was a bit grumpy and anxious but she easily eased out after her Daddy Jeedo took her to rounds of playtimes and kwagees.

The reason why our bakasyon to Davao was cut short is because of the upcoming COSPLAY this 16th.  It’s a general assembly and our team is organizing the event.  Modesty aside, our department happens to be a talent pool so we’ll have a band to play and sing anime songs.  One of the numbers will be me playing the keyboards while singing Houki Boshi, Bleach’s 3rd ending.  Jeedo’s playing the drums too.  I’ll be wearing Android 18 of Dragon Ball Z costume while Jeedo’s gonna be Kakashi Hatake, naruto’s sensei.  I’ll post pix of the events after the event.

Ea’s bakasyon

Ea and I are in Davao now… yep, in my parents’ house.  It took her about a week to adjust to her new environment.  New room, new toys, new pillows, new housemates (Lolo Bernard and Lola Recca).

Ooppss.. she’s awake and is asking for her ration.. I’ll come back with more chika..

21 rapids

When this week kicked off, I was looking forward rather excitedly to the upcoming Wild river white water rafting, scheduled today. I went to the mall last Saturday to see if I could buy myself a fitting arm protector and leg tights to keep my skin from burning while we take the 21 rapids course. My next stop would have been an SPF-40 (or higher) sunscreen until I heard from my boss that, to my utter dismay, the sked was moved for tomorrow, Friday.

The difference between a Thursday and a Friday? I have Ea’s lola to look after her on any day of the week except Fridays and Saturdays. Her weekend is saved for something else and it’s not negotiable. So I bade goodbye to white water rafting last night and decided to stay home and hurdle Ea’s version of “21-rapids for mommy”.

I just can’t wait for my little lady to grow up and go outdoors with me and Jeedo. I know babies grow up pretty fast. On some occasions I even wish she could stay this small and cuddly forever. But I miss going out you know… camping, spending and wasting time downtown, browse for an ON SALE used books, shopping for clothes or a nice pair of earrings, sitting on a park bench (MTS?) watching the sunset, flying a kite… Perhaps when my little one is a lot bigger, it may be exciting to do these things and even explore greater heights of adventure together.

Net Neutrality

I’m not sure if you guys ever heard of Net Neutrality?  This is a current development seemingly threatening the Internet.  A debate is going on whether or not Internet access be limited to those who can “afford”.   As we all know, the Internet at this time is a free way of information accessible to everyone.  Rich or poor, sane or not, everyone has equal access.  Some politicians in the US are passing a bill to give the big phone and cable companies the power to pick and choose what you will be able to see and do on the Internet.  Those who  are currently controlling Internet access would like to build a two-tiered system to block the access of those who cannot afford.

Though I am not fully convinced that they could ever control the Internet fast lane, this just brings a concern for all of us who consider Internet to be an avenue of expression, data gathering and communication.  I just felt that these politicians are merely looking for some meaty reason to rip people of money when taxes are just ain’t enough to fill their pockets.
